New Polk County, GA Cemetery Books

If there is enough interest, the Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee will compile a series of cemetery books for Polk County. The books that Ralph and Jane Ayers did in the 1960s to 1980s have been a blessing. Of course all have been sold. Since the couple is dead, I doubt that there will be a reprint of the books.

What we were thinking about is a series of books with about five to seven cemeteries in each. The exception would be the large cemeteries like Greenwood, Polk Memory Gardens or North View. Each of these would be a single book. The county will be divided into sections and the books will cover a section of the county. (Some sections may require more than one book to cover it.)

In doing the cemetery restoration, we have found several cemeteries that were not in the Ayers books. They will be in the new book along with additional burials at the cemeteries.

If this is something you think you would be interested in, please send a e-mail to us at or to Doris Robbins at Let us know if you would buy one of the books when finished.

We will also need volunteers to help survey the cemeteries, to verify the surveys and proofread the books. Will also need some transcribers/typist.
