Polk County did not exist until 1851 when it was formed out of Paulding Co., which was formed in 1832 out of the Cherokee Indian cession.

The public library in Cedartown has the marriage record books on microfilm--it's easier to do your research at the library than at the courthouse.

I live in Baltimore now but I'm a native of Rockmart GA.
