I also suggest that you visit the Thomaston-Upson Archives in Thomaston, GA. Upson Co. is near Pike Co., and the archives has many records for counties surrounding Upson Co. Their website is: http://home.alltel.net/tuarch/

You may also wish to visit the Washington Memorial Library in Macon, GA, as they have one of the largest collections of Georgia records in the state.
