I am looking for a George A Baker, father of George A Baker Jr.(born 1863) George Baker Jr. married Susan Haynes and they were on the Pickens County Lost Marriage Records, they married abt 1844. George Baker Jr.'s mother was Manerva, Minerva or Minnie Van Horn...we have no proof other than what we were told.
Manerva Van Horn was born abt 1844. In 1870 census she was living alone with her son George Jr. I assume the Sr. George was killed in the Civil War. On census records it stated that George Sr. was born in TN. Minerva remarried a William D. McDonald and settled in Whitfield County (Dalton). I have been stuck on these lines for 10+ years!! George Baker Jr. and Susan Haynes (1st wife) are my Great Grandparents. He married Sarah (Sally) West (2nd). I have everything from there. If anyone knows anything about the Joseph Van Horn who lived in Talking Rock and that line, please contact me. I have nothing on my Haynes. I hate to even offer the following statement...but it is what it is...My Grandmother Baker who married a Carroll was 1/2 Cherokee...please help.
The children of George Baker Jr. and Susan Haynes had 3 daughters: Malinda Mary Baker 1885 (my Grandmother)who married Oscar Eugene Carroll (1878), Susan Ella Baker Ingel Cantrell, and Matilida Victoria Baker Couey.
I know...I'm long winded!
