Anna Townsend, Pickens Co., GA, Holcomb????

I descend from Edward Townsend and his wife Anna (1796-1838)who lived in Pickens County, Tate, GA. An old family story goes that Anna's mother was kidnapped by an Indian brave, and Anna was a child that resulted from this kidnapping.

Many of Anna's descendants filed claims for Indian benefits based on this heritage, my ggrandmother being one of them. I have a copy of my ggrandmother's application, which states that my ggranddaddy Adolphus Crow, was a "once removed cousin to H. J. Holcomb, (3075), and claims through the same line". The application also states that Anna Townsend (wife of Edward) was Anna Holcomb.

If there is someone who has knowledge of these Holcombs, I'd like to know how they tie in. I've always heard of Anna referred to as Anna Taylor, daughter of Ruthy and Chief Richard Taylor.

Thank you
