Hight Family

Hi Forum Members!

I am looking for information on the Hight Family.

Wiley Gilbert HIGHT 1786 – 1868
Olive Harris BAKER 1797 – 1874

had the following children

Richard HIGHT 1816 –
John Fielding HIGHT 1818 – 1876
William Baker HIGHT 1821 – 1868
Thomas Gilbert HIGHT 1823 – 1870
Stephen Decatur HIGHT 1826 – 1904
James Lawrence Hight 1830 – 1909
Oliver Wiatt HIGHT 1832 –

I have been following this line from James Lawrence Hight. James was married to Sarah Thompson in 1871. This is what I know: he was a large landowner in GA and was well known in the community. He may have had some relationship with the Cherokee Walkingstick family, though I am not sure what that relationship was. If he was involved in the removal of the Cherokees, if he was married to a Cherokee, if he held a Walkingstick as a servant or slave? He had the following sons:

Stonewall Jackson
James L Jr.
Emmett

James Jr. - died young
Emmett - created quite a few scandals in his lifetime
Stonewall - I know nothing of, but I want to try to find out more about his life.

Anyone help advice or help would be appreciated

Thanks!

Kim
