I'm looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack...
John Calaway CRABB, son of Burton and Rachel, was living in Paulding County when he married Frances [YORK] 02 Jun 1850 thus neither he or his wife are shown living with their parents on any census.
The area where the Crabb's lived became part of Polk County when it was created in 1851 and Polk County history states that John Calaway Crabb opened the first store in the county.
Capt John Calaway CRABB was killed in the battle at Murfreesboro, TN on 15 Jul 1862 leaving a widow and 5 young sons.
What I'm praying you may find is a Paulding County deed for purchase, gift, or sale of land mentioning J C CRABB
in this short timespan.
I am desparately trying to find PROOF that Capt John (J C)Calaway CRABB was the son of James Burton CRABB and Rachel [JONES] for a 76 year old descendant whose dream is to join the Sons of the American Revolution.
He has everything he needs except proof that John Calaway Crabb was their son.
I have research done buy John Calaway CRABB's nephew and my GG-uncle (1849-1945) who personally knew John Calaway Crabb and his parents but the SAR will not accept his notes as proof.
I'm praying that a deed may state a kinship to someone we can prove or provide a "preponderance of evidence" which the SAR will accept.
I will happily pay you for your time, any costs, etc as I so want to make my cousin's dream a reality for him and his 3 male Crabb descendants.
My heartfelt thanks for anything you may provide or suggest
Kathye [Payne] Upham
