The father of James Harris was Archibald Harris born about 1804 in NC. The mother was Elizabeth Carter born about 1805 in NC. Siblings of James were: Abe, Rachael, Lucinda, Narcissus, Elizabeth, Jabe and Martha Ann. Archibald and Elizabeth moved to Cleburne County, AL in 1851. The grandparents of James were Charles Harris born in 1776 and died in 1865. Charles was a Veteran of the War of 1812. Charles' wife was Jane Cannon born abt.1784 and died after 1884 in Haralson County, GA. Siblings of Archibald were: Daniel, Edd and Green Berry Harris.

The Paulding New Era, March 16, 1884, p. 3, col 2: contains a story about Mrs. Jane Cannon Harris entitled "Mrs. Jane Harris One Hundred and One Years Old." Microcopy available from (The Paulding New Era, Dallas, Georgia, Feb 1883 - Feb 1893, Athens Georgia, University of Georgia Library Photo-duplication Department). There is another two page document written by Abe Harris in 1933. I have it in the form of a Word Perfect document which I can send to you if I have your E-mail address.

This Harris family is not my direct line but, my uncle, J. Willis Harris married Lola Palmer whose mother was Dorinda Harris, a descendant of James and Ann Harris.
