K. Davis, I too have had difficulty tracing my Lewis ancestors in Paulding Co., but this one item may help. My great-grandfather was William John Oliver Lewis ( 1862) who was the grandson of Jeremiah Wisner. He lived with his Wisner grandparents from an early age, later married Olivia Shipp in Paulding Co. in 1883, and ultimately moved to Winston Co., ALA. (as did some of his Wisner relatives). His mother was Mary Ann Wisner, who married John S. Lewis in Paulding Co. in 1859. I have been unable to trace John S. Lewis (who was born in Alabama 1841 or 1842). According to family lore he fought in the Civil War, was captured and imprisoned in Greensboro, and never returned to Paulding Co.
His widow apparently married William Barrow in 1866.

I have the complete genealogy from William John Oliver Lewis to the present and would be happy to share. I would appreciate any information on either the Lewis or the Wisner families in Paulding County or Cobb Co. (esp. in the California district).
