In the 1793 tax list for Wilkes Co., GA, there were three Bowman heads of household listed; William & Rachel in Capt. Campbell's District & Leonard in Capt. Lipham's District. The following year, after a portion of Wilkes Co. was taken to form Oglethorpe Co., Leonard was the only Bowman head of household listed in Wilkes County.
In 1807, the list of "Eligible Drawers" in Oglethorpe Co. for the 2nd GA land lottery included a widow (Rachel Boman), two married men with wife and/or minor child (William Boman SR & Thomas Bowman), and two bachelors, 21 years or over (Robert Boman & William Boman JR).
I suspect that the four Bo(w)man men were sons &/or grandsons of the widow, Rachel Bo(w)man, and I am hoping that someone can verify or refute this guess. Short of that, any bit of information about these persons will be gratefully received.
Regards, Byron Bowman
