1813 military enlistment

In researching John McDaniel(McDonal, McDonald), I recently found a quote stating John McDaniel enlisted in Lexington, GA in 1813. I can find no McDaniels on Tax lists, etc. in Oglethorpe County at that time, but I know part of Clarke County became Oglethorpe about that time and John married Margaret Anderson in Clarke County in1819.
I have tried NARA with no luck. Does anyone have info/suggestions on how I could confirm this enlistment info., or any info on enlistment in general during this time.
