HISTORY NOTES: "Bob" Robert Lee JARRELL
excerpts fom History of Jones county, Georgia:
He began his career on the railroad early in life. His first job was
as a track hand on the section between Dames Ferry and Juliette on the
East Tennessee, Virginia and Ga Railroad (now the Southern).
Later he worked on the Middle Georgia and Atlantic (now the Central of
Ga) and the Georgia Railroad. He soon became section foreman on the
Georgia Railroad and was stationed in Almon, Newton county, Georgia.
His section was said to be the best kept on the Georgia Railroad
between Atlanta and Augusta.
He was promoted to Supervisor and was to have taken his new job on 1
Nov 1904 but sickeness and death intervened.
