Seeking information on the DEAN Family Burying Ground. It is or was near the location of the family residence, at one time seven miles north of Columbus in the Nances District of Muscogee County, said to be just above the community of Nankipooh. The following persons are among those buried there: >>>Charles P. DEAN (ca. 1812 MA – 15 SEP 1892), m. 23 DEC 1838 in Jones Co, GA, to Cinderella C. SHAW (is she buried there also? When did she die?). >>>Miss Nancy “Nannie” DEAN (ca. 1847 – 06 OCT 1907), dau. of Charles P. >>>Miss Katherine J. DEAN (d. 03 JUL 1917), dau. of Charles P. –appears on transcription of the 1880 census as Catharine G., b. ca. 1845 Information on the above burials comes from published death or funeral announcements. I am interested to learn the exact location of this burying ground, who else is buried there, what graves are marked, and what condition the site is in. A survey of this cemetery conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Buster W. WRIGHT is said to be on file at the Columbus Public Library. Mary C. DEAN, a daughter of Charles & Cinderella, married James Monroe LOKEY, brother of my gg-grandmother, Angeline Polk (LOKEY) LAND. Triphenia “Phenie” DEAN, another daughter of Charles & Cinderella, married Nicholas E. MILLER, brother of my gg-grandfather, Oliver Hazard MILLER. I have other family connections as well. Thanks – John in TX Notify Administrator about this message?
