Jeff,
I'm having problems sending e-mail and replying so will answer here for now. yes, you're right I am descended from one of the NY sons. But he's not really a NY son. My grandfather was Frank Leslie McManus but he was born and raised in Columbia,SC. He then moved to NY to attend an engineering course, met and married my grandmother and stayed in NY. My father was Leroy McManus. I've been trying since 1986 to find anything on my McManus side without much luck. I did find ARthur's parents grave in Camden, KErshaw County, SC but cannot seem to go back any further than that and it's really driving me crazy!!! It doesn't help that SC didn't keep any records until 1915!!!! Although I've found a ton of McManus in SC can't tie any of them to my James Frank McManus. (Arthur's father). Also, Lyda Hines McManus is a great question mark. I've never heard that my great grandfather Arthur McManus officially divorced my great grandmother,Alice Ellinger McManus so am wondering if Arthur and Lyda were ever legally man and wife. Hmmmm!
