Dear Shirley,

I found Henry G. Robinson m. Nov. 22, 1838, Mary Massey Sec. III, Ch. 56, Muscogee Co., GA (1820-1859)
Source: Marriage Index: AL, GA, SC, (1641-1944) #3 from Family Tree Maker. The original source was "Hunting for Bears".

If you have used Hunting for Bears you know that these are computerized marriage records. Each volume has a section for the bride and one for the groom. Unfortunately, parents' names are not given.

Lea Dowd who formerly hosted the Muscogee Co., GA Home Page gave me a priceless tip. She said "if you don't find your ancestors in Muscogee Co., look in Russell Co., AL". I did, and I found my husband's ancestors in Russell Co., AL, just across the river from Muscogee Co., GA.

Family history said the family came from Muscogee, Co., GA, but I could not find them anywhere in GA. I am sure you know, the courthouse in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA burned in 1838 and was burned again by Union Troops during the Civil War.

I searched through many books of marriage records abstracted from newspapers in GA and never found the marriage record of Ed's ancestors, John Wells & Phoebe Ellis. But, I keep looking.
