Good Morning Pat,

My husband's ancestor, Etheldred "Dred" Bozeman was born in Lowndes Co., AL. His father, Joseph Bozeman was b. in Bladen Co., NC. Although Ed's Bozeman ancestors did not come from Muscogee Co., GA his Wells and Massey ancestors did.

The Courthouse in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA burned in 1838 and was burned by Union Troops during the Civil War. Because Judge Massey published several volumes on the Massey family, the Masseys were easy to find. However, I am stuck at John Wells, found in the 1840 Muscogee Co., GA Census. According to information Ed's grandfather gave him, John, called Jack by grandfather, was b. 1805 and d. 1855, in Muscogee Co., GA. John Wels and Phoebe were also found the the 1850 Russell Co., AL census. Following a tip from Leah Dowd "if you don't find your ancestors in Muscogee Co., GA, look in Russell Co., AL - just across the river from Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA."I did and found John and Phoebe and 4 of their children whose names were known to us.

I have a photocopy of the book "Sketches of The Bozeman Family" by Rev. Jos. W. Bozeman, DD, but I did not see your Edward Bozeman and his spouse listed.

Best regards,
Rosie Morein Wells
