"I recently drove over to Cusseta, GA, county seat for Chattahoochee Co., GA. It is about 15-20 miles southeast of Columbus. I found a good many land records, i.e., deeds, admins, mortgages, etc. in their courthouse that was for Muscogee Co., in the mid 1800s. Copying records there was.25/copy and $1.00/copy in Russell Co., AL. There are a lot of old, old records in the basement of the Russell Co., AL courthouse in Phenix City. I found some pretty interesting poll tax record books for Russell Co. that had birthdates and who married to that was quite helpful."
If you would like to read what a large number of researchers wrote on the subject, including a message from Virginia Crilly the Muscogee Co. rep. - email@example.com
Go to RootsWeb.com, Muscogee County, Georgia you can find a message I posted
