M. Whit Kelly - Riverboat Captain?

Would anyone happen to know anything about riverboats that traveled the Chattahoochee in the late 1800's? My ggrandmother's sister, Maidie Farmer, married M. Whit Kelly
(maybe Whitfield) in Henry Co., Ala. on Dec. 11, 1879. They had one known son, Jeff. They lived in Columbus. Maidie died after 1944. Family story is that Mr. Kelly was a riverboat captain traveling the Chattahoochee and that was how he met Maidie in Henry Co. Would like to know about this family and would love to find some descendents. Thanks so much.

Mary Ann Caldbeck
