Montgomery Co Records Mystery
Posted by: Hazel Clack (ID *****2746) Date: October 26, 2009 at 22:23:17

I'm really stumped on this one and really could use some help. I have a Reuben Warren that is showing up on the GA Colonial Headright Plat Index as receiving 225 acres in Montgomery Co in 1803, he shows up on the Montgomery Jury List 1791, 1794, 1804, he shows up on the 1790 Reconstructed GA census on as paying taxes on the 225 acres. I think I have ordered every film on Montgomery Co from the LDS Library and Reuben Warren does not show up on any roll of film. I've also gone through the Laurens Co records.

Does anyone know of any of the surrounding counties where these records may have ended up? Or is it possible for the records to actually be in the Montgomery courthouse and never have been put on microfilm? I've searched the census records, GA GenWeb, all the county GenWebs, the online GA Archives and anyplace else online that I could think of.

Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated.
