....slave owner in 1860 Monroe County Slave Schedule (40 total). I believe he may have been the former owner of Felix and Emeline DARDEN and older children found in 1870, 1st Dist., Jones Mill PO.
I did find an abstraction of a will (posted here) for a Jethro DARDEN (7/31/1837 p.110) where sons Stephen and Wilson HARDY were heirs. If someone has a copy of the original I would surely appreciate and abstraction of the heirs and the names of slaves if any. Also a will Abstract of Stephen DARDEN (12/16/1844:1/13/1845 p.227) to the children of Wilson and Frances DARDEN: Ellender and Ann.
Cannot find Felix and Eveline in any census after 1870, but find daughter Mary (my line) and her brother Wood (Woodley per 1870) DARDEN working as servants of separate households in Coody's District, Butts County in 1880. Mary age 14 was the servant to Charles and Mary MADDOX and Wood age 18 to Hiram? and Amanda PONDER.
As a side note, I also found a Woodley DARDEN age 38 (c. 1832) wife Leah, son Charlie in 1870 Johnston Dist. and believe there is a connection.
Thanks for any help,
