Elizabth Ann Chancey married a Mr. Dodgen after Alfred Walraven died (dates unknown). According to Tolar family history, she lived with her youngest daughter, Liza Clay, near Marietta, GA later in life.My Grandfather, John Henry Tolar, was born in Big Shanty, GA, Sept 29, 1871, and was her grandson by Geoge Isaac Tolar and Amanda Walraven Tolar. He remembered going to see her on her 100th birthday when he was either 5 or 6 years old.He stated that she lived another 10 or 12 years longer. He says that she could read without glasses, smoked a corn cob pipe, drank coffee, and last but not least, had started cutting a 3rd set of teeth!Using this information yields dates for Elizabeth Ann Chancey of around 1776-1777 to 1881-1883.If this information is indeed correct, then this remarkable woman came in with the Declaration of Independence, and went out with the telephone.
If you run across anything on the Tolars, George Isaac and/or his father, John, I would appreciate hearing about it.
