Doug, your name rings a bell, we probably have written before, but our Rooks family does have a Walter in it, he was an infant in the 1850 census of Butts Co. GA with his parents G. B. Rooks and wife Elizabeth WALLACE, how about that! G. B. Rooks was the brother of our ancestor, William J. Rooks, who lived in the same household in 1850 with his young wife, Manervia STAPLES. Right in the neighborhood was Isabella ROOKS with daughters Epsey, Amanda, and ?Nellysue?, who could be their mother. Buried in the county in a private cemetery belonging to their next door LINDSEY neighbors is a Dennis ROOKS born in the state of Maryland 177?, died in Butts Co. GA 1851.
Does any of this ring any bells?
