Possible Re-marriage for Harriett Reid??

(Mattie Whisenhunt Ayres) was the sister of my husband's great grandmother, Viola Whisenhunt Nichols. I have a question about the death record for Mattie & Viola. I have researched this family for years and know that their Mom was Margaret Josephine Reid Whisenhunt (Worthey). On Viola's certificate it shows her mom as Josephine Reid and on Mattie's it shows Josephine Bryan. I suspect that "Bryan" might have been a re-marriage for their mom Harriett (Mrs. John B. Reed/Reid) after their dad died in 1865. She would have been pretty young to have remained single. Do you know anything about the significance of the name "Bryan"? I will be glad to exchange info if this is your people also. These families were originally from the Harralson, Coweta Co. Georgia area.
