I am an archaeologist...I recently located the Henry L. Edwards (L possibly Lunceford or Littleberry), later Albert H. Edwards homeplace. There is no house, just a house site and nearby family cemetery. Neither Albert nor Henry are buried there. Albert is buried nearby in a church cemetery in Oglethorpe County, GA. The house site and family cemetery are now in Oconee County. Approx. five members of Albert's family, including his first wife, Louise Hughes Edwards aka Polly, in this cemetery died during a smallpox epidemic in 1875. I thought Henry's father was Littleberry B. Edwards, but a Nathan is listed in the SAR application. Henry and Jasper N Edwards are living adjacent to each other in the 1850 Clarke County census in Puryear's district. Albert H was 17 and living in Henry's household at that time.
Mor specifically, I am trying to locate a circa 1790s Federal fort called Fort Mathews, which was on the Edwards land.
