Hello, Jean,
I believe this is your John:
JOHN BRECKENRIDGE DROWNS IN CHATTOOGA
Clayton, Ga., August 3.--(Special)
The coroner today left Clayton for Pine Mountain where he goes to investigate the cause of the death of John Breckenridge, whose body was found yesterday in the Chattooga river.Breckenridge's clothes, pocketbook and a small amount of money were found higher up the river on the bank on theGeorgia side, and from this circumstance it is presumed he had gone in swimming and had drowned. He had been away from home two weeks, but when he left he said he was going over into South Carolina to get work, consequently no alarm was felt at his long absence. He leaves a wife and children to mourn his untimely death."
