Hi, Micah,
Have you tried using the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules that Ancestry.com has?You can actually find out a lot without being a subscriber.Start here:http://www.ancestry.com/search/http://www.ancestry.com/search/
Put in names of possible slave owners, search under "Historical Records," then after you get all the results, narrow them down by selecting Census & Voter Lists (on the left), and again, by selecting the 1850 or 1860 Slave Schedules, probably under the "See More..." also in the box on the left.I just did a search that told me that in 1850, an F. Allen in Troup Co. had seven slaves, all deemed black (as opposed to mulatto):a female age 27, a female 18, a female 12, a female 9, a male 8, a female 6, and a female 1.Try searching there yourself. You might find something.
