Georgia did not have a state wide marriage register until 1964 so the name of a county is needed and there are 150+ of them. Do you have any idea?
When searching for clues I saw your post on the Smith Forum of March 28, 2009 that indicated you needed his parents names. If you still need this information read this:
Do you have a copy of his SS-5 Form, Application for a Social Security number? If not, go to http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgihttp://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi, go to the advanced search, and enter his first and last name, and social security number 408-10-3930 issued in TN. On the search results page, click the link to SS-5 Letter on the right side. You will get instructions for ordering. The application will have the father's name and mother's maiden name.
His Tennessee death certificate has fields for the same information. You can get instructions for ordering a copy from the Tennessee Vital Records at http://health.state.tn.us/vr/index.htmhttp://health.state.tn.us/vr/index.htm.
