William A. George of Monticello, Jasper Co., GA
Willaim A. George was born about 1845 to Rachael Bradberry and Robert George in Monticello, Jasper Co., GA.Sometime between the 1850 census and 1860 his parents either left or died as William is found living with his grandfather Thomas C. Bradberry.William is not found anywhere again until after the Civil War when he shows up in IL and married Wilmuth A. Griffin. After marriage the moved to Marshalltown Iowa by way of Omaha, NE.I would like to find out what happened to his parents and if he had any siblings.I think not since the parents seemed to disappear. Also odd, is that the marriage of Rachel and Robert is recorded in Jasper Co. about 2 years after William's birth.I would appreciate any information regarding Williams life before the Civil War.It is unclear if he was in the war.I was told that they took some of the younger boys like William and used them as guards of prisoners.William was a talented artist and did mostly scenic art, that was how he earned a living.
