I would very much like to share information with anyone researching the Allen Stillwell family of Georgia and Alabama, and in particular anyone who might have any information whatsoever on Allen's son, William Stillwell (sometimes shown as William McDonald Stillwell). Allen was born in North Carolina about 1802. He married Rachel Jemmerson on September 12, 1825 in Upson County Georgia. They were the parents of: 1. Andrew J. Stillwell (born about 1838 in Georgia) 2. John A. Stillwell (born May 11, 1840 in Upson County, Georgia, died May 21, 1914 in Randolph County, Alabama; married Jane Smith with whom he had children, then Fannie Breed) 3. George W. Stillwell (born about 1842 in Georgia) 4. William Stillwell (born about 1845 in Georgia, married S. Elizabeth ? prior to 1880, who I believe to be Elizabeth Wade) 5. Younger J. Stillwell (born about 1847 in Georgia) Allen's son, William, is living with his wife, S. Elizabeth, near Allen in the 1880 census of Blount County, Alabama. I believe this William and Elizabeth Stillwell were the parents of: 1. Henry S. Stillwell (born June 11, 1884 in Alabama, died August 22, 1945 in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama; married Lula Thomas), and 2. Willie Stillwell (born October 1884; she married Buster Rice). Henry Stillwell and Lula (Thomas) Stillwell were my grandparents. We know that Henry's parents names were William and Elizabeth (Wade) Stillwell, and that Henry's father, William, died between 1884 and 1887. I have reason to believe that Allen Stillwell's son William is Henry's father. I would appreciate any information at all anyone can share on this family. [Census locations for this family: Allen's family was in Upson County, GA for the 1840 and 1850 census; Russell County, Alabama for the 1860 and 1870 census; and Blount County, Alabama for the 1880 census, at which time William and his wife were living near him. Allen's son John was in Harris County, Georgia in 1870, at which time William was living in his household, and John was in Randolph County, Alabama, for the 1880 census.] Notify Administrator about this message?
