Dear Thomas,
I do show that W.J. Holland is on the 1910 wood county, Texas census, but he dosen't show on the 1920 census. He had a son who was born cir 1915, so I'm assuming that he was alive until then. I also after going through my records found a w.j. holland on the 1870 census in pike county georgia, so when I tried to find him in 1880, I don't find him in Georgia or Texas. The W.J. holland i found on the census is African-American but a W.J. Holland marriage record I find with a Sallie Avery dosen't state race, so I don't know if this is him. I agree that the records kept in texas are terrible. Imagine other people of color trying to find their ancestors. The only other option I have is to hope someone recognizes some of the information I have and will e-mail me.
