The censuses for William H. Johnson and his family have nothing regarding his parents.

His name is much too common to try and track him down earlier with his parents using only a name and age range. There would be no guarantee that it was correct.

On the 1930 census for Clara the people listed in the home are:
Clara Johnson-48-widowed
Cornelius W.-relative-76-single
Henry T.-son-16
Floyd Law??-son-12
Lloyd Dawson-son-12
Mary L.-dtr-7

There is an Andrew C. Johnson age 47 on the same page as Clara in 1930. He is listed with his wife and children and also his mother-Susie age 69-widowed.

That may be something to look into.

I would recommend getting William's death certificate and see if that lists his parents.
