Hi, I talked to Adrienne and with her help I found your Zadock in my copies that I have. Here is what I have on his family. The book which I told you about in the last message is an excellent, well documented history of this family. If you can get hold of it, it is a valuable resource. I have not entered anywhere near all the notes I could glean from the book. I copied the parts that had my direct line. You will see that Zadock is not descended from Ambrose Powell. I think there is an Ambrose Powell in my other Powell family.

Sources
1. James Garner and wife Elizabeth were in Isle of Wight in 1684. James made his will in 1748 and the family were here until after the Revolution when several of the family moved away. It is very likely that this is the family of the Vice-President of the United States. ref. 17th Century Isle of Wight, p. 222.
2. Will mentions children listed here and Cousin Benjamin Garner. Executors Brother Joseph Garner and son Joseph Garner. Dated 22 July 1748, Rec. 12 Jan 1749.
3. In October 1677 Henry Hearn signed a petition supporting the release of a rebel leader during Bacon's Rebellion, indicating that he was either an active rebel or sympathized with that lost cause. (17th Century Isle of Wight, p. 162.)
4. LDS Library also has reference to a Thomas Powell born ca 1604, Sussex, England, with wife Elizabeth Hipsely born ca 1607, London, England; and son William Powell, Sr., born ca 1642 Isle of Wight, Virginia, wife Elizabeth Lawrence.
