I am searching for information on John McBee from Tennessee who was born in 1817. He lived back and forth between Marion County, Tennessee and Jackson County, Alabama where he owned a grain mill. He married Catherine Haines from Georgia probably in Jackson County, Alabama about 1839. By 1850 they moved to Arkansas where Catherine died. In 1860 he has remarried to Hannah Permelia Potts and they are living in Marion County, Tennessee. He and at least one of his sons enlisted in the army of the Confederacy and returned to Marion County after the war. According to family stories, the yankees burned his mill to the ground so soon after the end of the Civil War he packed his family up and moved to Kansas where he and some others helped found the town of Howard.
Who were the parents of John McBee? I suspect the father to be Samuel who was living near him in both Franklin County, Tennessee and Jackson County, Alabama. But I don't have anything that proves this.
Who were the parents of his wife Catherine Haines b. 1821 in Georgia?
