I really appreciate your looking for my John Castle. I know that he received a grant for land in ..9th.Militia District, Lot #131, District No. 19, in Baldwin County, Georgia. in 1806-1807 land draw. (I think it was actually considered the 1807 land draw) An explanation – In order to qualify for a land draw you must have been a resident of Georgia for a period of (I think) two years prior to the draw. So… many people took up duel residents, that is where they actually lived and also in Georgia to qualify. My John Castle was in Columbia, County Georgia for qualifying purposes. Another confusion: On the land plat map that I have of his property it shows him as John Castle but he could also be shown as Castles, Cassels, Cassells, Castels, (I could run out of commas but you get the idea. I have proof of John back to 1807 in Georgia but if he can be found to be the same John Castle (Cassels) in South Carolina then I am back to his father in 1735. I really hope I’m not imposing on you and your lunch hour. And again I would really appreciate if you could take another look with these things in mind. Yours truly, Dale Castle (Cassels) or whoever I am! Notify Administrator about this message?
