From Peg's post, it appears that her mother's name was Nancy, but she is not enumerated with the children in the 1870 census. I would suggest obtaining a copy of Amanda's Alabama death certificate from the Vital Records section of the Alabama Department of Health. It may very well have her father's name and mother's maiden name. Most death certificates have a field for this and is usually included if the informant knows the information.
