I have a Susan McDowell (m. Arledge) born in Georgia about 1830 and her sister Mary McDowell (m.Thornton) born in Ga about 1820. Their mother was probably a Gwathney. Their father was Elihu McDowell (1798 SC) living in Coosa Co., AL 1850 (listed as Elisha McDowell).
Susan McDowell married William Nicholas Arledge/Aldridge (B. GA) of Coosa Co., Alabama. Their child Thomas D. Aldridge/Aldrich/Alridge married Sarah Mae Jordan -the daughter of Warren Jordan (b. GA) and Winnie Wright (b. SC). Winnie had a brother John Wright (also b SC). Do you have any knowledge of the family? The Wrights were in Chambers, Russell, Coosa and other counties. I do not know if they were moving or if the county lines kept changing.
