We have recently received a new DNA analysis result for the Reddick / r320 surname project being managed through Family Tree DNA. This is for Dalton Reddick, who is confirmed to be a part of the southeast and coastal Georgia r320 group of Readick / Readdick / Reddick surname lines. Dalton has a 12 for 12 matchup with Jerry Reddick. They both had adult male ancestors living in Screven Co., GA. at the time of the 1820 census through the 1860 census. Dalton and Jerry match on 11 out of 12 genetic markers with the four other members of this grouping.
Interestingly, Jerry and two of the other Georgia r320s are descended from sons of Jacob Reddick. Dalton, however - rather certainly doesn't appear to be a descendant of Jacob. But, since the mutated marker for both Dalton and Jerry appears to be one that does mutate rapidly, then perhaps we are simply seeing a rapid mutation of that gene in both derived lines (unless we've really, really gotten things wrongly interpreted).
For those who might be interested in the ancestry of these Georgia r320s - I've added partial (in some ways -provisional-) ancestries for the six members of this group. Part of each of the six members' ancestries is still problematic.
Also, it should be noted that lines descended from other r320s have been in present in Georgia. Reddicks unrelated to the lines originating out of southeast & coastal GA. have been present in or passed through the state since the Revolutionary War period. Members of the Reddoch / Reddock lines descended from William and Mary Rose Reddoch are represented amongst many Reddick / r320 records of Georgia. This can prove to be very confusing, as in Camden Co., GA. where Reddocks and Readdicks were both present. Different members of both lineages were had their surnames variously recorded as Readdick, Reddick, and Reddock - interchangably. This has made interpretation of records difficult. The introducttion of DNA testing has allowed us to partially separate out lines.
