Thank you very much for the fast response. The Matilda that you have uncovered matches very well with my relative. She was born in 1858 in Alabama as your information describes.
There is a lot of new information here and it will surely take awhile for me to digest it.
An immediate mystery comes up in that in my first reading of your data, I find Matilda listed with Missouri Williford, but in another account she does not appear. Of course with that many children,(and marriages) one could easily be forgotten on a list.
Matilda was born (best I can tell) 7/15/1858; died 2/20/1936 in Missouri. She outlived JJ by 28 years and did the major lifting in raising her family.
I need to know lot more especially about JJ. Meanwhile I am going to be busy getting aquainted with Matilda; I think your info will take me back to the late 1700's on the Williford side.
I really appreciate this gesture on your part. I am going to have to thank another person on the Alabama forum who uncovered much the same background.
