Beautiful piece of research. Are there any records earlier. I am going thru an old family trunk and have come across a State of Georgia document appointing J. A. (Jacob Alexander) Fite, County surveyor for Gordon County dated January 23, 1862 (signed in Milledgeville) and signed by Govenor Joseph E. Bropwn and a J. B. Campbell, Secretary Executive Department. It apprears that he settled in this area, raised his family, most of which stayed in the Resaca, including one of his sons, Dr. Berry Wilson Fite, born on April 7, 1862. Any information is appreciated
