Request more Information on: ‘James Swindle – Private, May 7, 1862. He was admitted to the General Military Hospital No 4 at Wilmington, North Carolina with fever January 23, 1863 and returned to duty March 4, 1863. He was a member of 1st Company F, 25th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry GSA Liberty County, Georgia (“Altamaha Scouts”)’.
Also could this James Swindle be: The father or a brother of George D. Swindle (03/09/1829-10/18/1910) that served as a Private in both Company D (Liberty Guards) and Company H (The Lamar Rangers) of the 5th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Cavalry (CSA) during the Civil War?
George D. Swindle (03/09/1829-10/18/1910) is buried in the Old Poplar Church Cemetery on Fort Stewart, GA by his wife Esther Weathers (11/30/1835-4/4/1912). They were married on July 6th 1852 in Tattnall County, GA and lived as farmers in the Bay View and Beards Creek areas of Liberty County, GA where they had a large family (Four Boys: Henry Aquilla S, James Benjamin S, George Brook S, & Horace Baker S, and Two Girls: Emma Mae S. & Weltha Ann Swindle). Spelling of the name changed on the Liberty County, GA official records during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s from Swindle to Swindel to Swindell.
