Avondale wasn't a Town it was a rural postoffice located between Dearing and Harlem.
In the days before Rural free delivery of mail there were many small community post offices located several miles apart from which the surrounding area often took its name.

Avondale was a Farming Community along what is now Highway 221 in McDuffie and Columbia County, SilverRun Baptist Church (Est 1800) is located there and has an extensive cemetery.
