Searching for descendants of Wiley Buckner Reeves and Mattie Byers; married December 25, 1879 in Marion County, GA.
Wiley Buckner Reeves was the son of Thomas Jefferson Reeves and Mary Buckner of Talbot County, GA. Wiley was born ca. 1858 and Mattie was born ca. 1857.
Wiley and Mattie went to Houston County, Texas sometime after 1900 as they are listed on the 1910 census of that County. The 1910 census states that as of that date, there were seven children born to this union, 5 of whom were still alive. The census list; Ouida, born (in Georgia) April 5, 1890; Tommie Reeves b. ca. 1896 in Georgia and Johnie Reeves, b. ca. 1898 in Georgia.
Ouida married Jim Taylor 12/28/1912 in Houston County, Texas. She died 2/28/1918 in Houston County and is buried in the Salem Cemetery between Lovelady and Weldon, Texas.
Wiley Reeves died in Houston County, Texas (according to my elderly aunt, now deceased) and is also buried in the Salem Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Mattie, Tom and John went back to Georgia. They are not listed on the 1920 census of Houston County, therefore, they may have gone back to Marion County, GA.
