WALLS FAMILY - OGLETHORPE PLANTATION
Posted by: Patricia Brown (ID *****0722) Date: February 21, 2003 at 10:06:22

Can anyone help me with any further information on several questions listed below, please?
I have copies of two newspapers reports of the accidental death in Florida of my grandfather, Rev. J. M. Walls, on March 18, 1920. One states "reside on a farm near Oglethorpe. The interment will be in the FELTON CEMETERY immediately after the arrival of the body in Montezuma". The other newspaper states "had lived on the OGLETHORPE PLANTATION". Does anyone know anything about an OGLETHORPE PLANTATION? Is the listing complete for the Felton Cemetery? I could not find any Walls listed there. Does anyone know a contact person familiar with Felton Cemetery?
A family source stated that he preached at CHAPEL HILL near Montezuma and that they lived at FIELD STATION. Is anyone familiar with Chapel Hill or Field Station?
After his death, the family moved to HAMMETT, near Montezuma, then to Fort Valley. Is anyone familiar with Hammett?
The 1946 Macon newspaper obituary for his widow, Leathie Walls, states that she was a member of the Methodist Church in Oglethorpe and burial in Felton Cemetery near Montezuma. Anyone know the Methodist Churches to contact there?
