Thanks Nadine, I also believed Reuben to be the father. I also believed Henderson, NC to be where they originated. Your post was a big help. Thanks so much. Does Lewis Barton, know anything about James Fletcher born 1785. The granddaughter of John Nelson Fletcher, told me that he had disinherited John Nelson for marrying a Cherokee, Mira Brady. It was amazing speaking with her.

I have almost confirmed that she was indeed Cherokee, through her father Jesse Brady. These Bradys lived in Rutherford County, NC. Some left with the removal. Just wondering if any oral family history mentions this. Does Lewis know of John Nelson's family burial site. It's on Find a Grave site. I went there in 1999. It was a beautiful place to be buried and like I said there are unmarked graves.

I will check out the DNA site. Thanks again, Jane
