I know that my great grandfather was registered for the draft, but I have no idea whether or not he had to go...

I don't have any pictures or any other pertinent information as I'm just beginning my research, but if one of them looks like he's Cherokee his name might be Charley Edge (I believe it's a name he changed to after hiding out in Frogtown or thereabout during the Trail of Tears)

He ended up with 8 kids... 2 boys (Charlie Jr. and Nelson) and 6 girls whose names I'm not sure of. One of the daughters married a Lewis Grindle and lived a little south of Frogtown on the Chestatee river. The name of the road they lived on is now called Lewis Grindle Rd and the chimney where their house was still stands. My family has owned that land since before the Trail of Tears when it was still inhabited by the Cherokee Nation. They had to start selling it off during the Depression, but several hundred acres still belongs to my grandmother, who also still lives there.

Doubt this info helps, but it's at least some interesting history. :)
