Hi Don. I've seen your posts before in N. GA regions but couldn't make the connection to FORTNER. Now, found some
new data which helps me connect my gggreat aunt to a line.
Dolores Davis helped me with the following:
Columbus FORTNER b abt 1849 Lumpkin Co. GA md. 1871 Fannin Co. GA Lavada Ann THOMPSON (She had THOMAS, but it is THOMPSON). Columbus s/o Jesse Harrison FORTNER & Dorothy (HAND?). Now, I'm also interested in the SHELTONs (Jesse's dau. Rachel md. a SHELTON) because James TOMPSON md. 1871 Lumpkin Co. GA Sarah SHELTON. They maybe my gggrandparents. I need to prove it. A sister of the couple Caroline THOMPSON sister of Lavada Ann md. Samuel F. STANLEY. I have found some of the LONGs (Eliz. LONG THOMPSON mother of the THOMPSON I posted here), some of her cousins and neices/nephews md. into SHELTON as well as FORTNERs.I believe one of her aunt (maiden name CANSLER) md. into FORTNERs as well. I've had a hard time finding Eliz. THOMPPSON in 1860 and 70, and I've never found her with her husband. I'm hoping knowing her children md. into some LUmpkin Co. lines might lead to some
they may have lived there in 60 and 70! If you can add anything additional I'd really appreciate it.
