William Clark, Susan Barnes, Susan Flowers, mid 1800s

Looking for info on a William Clark, shown as 4 yrs old in the Libery/Long co 1850 census. He and his brother James were living with a Susan Barnes at that time. I am unsure if Barnes is a married name, or maiden.
William married Susan Flowers Hiers, widow of Jacob Hiers, and had 2 children. He then disappeared, came back, and disappeared again.
Any help on the Clark family in Long/Libery county is greatly appreciated! :)
