I came across this information sometime back. I think you will find it very interesting on your research of Liberty, Tattnall, Long and Other Counties in GA. Try: http://cviog.uga.edu/ There is lots of old maps that list towns, communities, etc., in Georgia counties from about 1777 to 2001. Expect to spend a few hours on this as there is lots of data you will want to review and possibly copy. I found it very interesting in addition to the books (Sweetland of Liberty, Willie, Taylors Creek, etc.) I mentioned earlier. My ancestors are from Liberty County, GA and my great-grand parents are buried in the old Poplar Head Church Cemetery on Fort Stewart in an area that is now a part of Long County. I also have a recent publication that list names of most buried in the 40 to 50 cemeteries on Fort Stewart GA.
My folks lived in Liberty, Long and Tattnall County, GA and I've lived there most of my life as well except for 20 years with the USAF. We now live in Glennville, GA. I've been researching our family genealogy for the last 5 or six years and have learned much history about the area and the folks that lived here. So far I have been unable to identify with much certainty the parents of my great-grandfather (George D. Swindell/Swindle b.3/9/1829 d.10/10/1910) although he lived and raised a large family with many descendants in the Liberty, Long and Tattnall County, GA areas. He married Esther Weather (b. 11/10/1835 d.4/4/1912) in Tattnall County, GA on 7/6/1852.
