Elizabeth Eliza Swindell (b.1/9/1853;d.8/15/1898), daughter of Sam and Mary Swindell, married Joseph Jackson Martin (b.12/11/1842), son of William H. and Elizabeth (Daniel) Martin in the Methodist Church, Taylors Creek Community, Liberty County, Georgia on 12/23/1869. (“The old Taylors Creek Community is now a part of the Fort Stewart Army Installation near Hinesville, GA”). Their eleven children are: Harris Calhoun Martin, Samuel Houston Martin, Washington Lee Martin, Mary Olivia (Martin) Smiley, James Daniel Martin, Maggie Frazier (Martin) Dawson, Rosa F. Martin (died age 8), James Carr (Martin) Rushing, Etta Mae (Martin) Arthur, Penny Nell (Martin) McDaniel, and Josie Howell Martin (died an infant).
I’m interested in connecting this family to my great-grandparent’s George D. Swindell (b.3/4/1829;d.10/18/1910) and Esther Weathers Swindell (b.11/30/1835; d.4/4/1912) that also lived in Liberty County (Bay View, and the Beards Creek Community that is now Long County) Georgia from about 1852 to about 1910. George and Esther’s six children are: Henry Aquilla Swindell that married Martha Ann Stubbs, James Benjamin Swindell that married Lowanza E. Smiley, Emma Mae Swindell that married Alonzo M. Kirkland, George Brook Swindell that married Emily N. Wilkinson (my grandparents), Weltha Ann Swindell that married William N. Clark, and Horace Brantley Swindell that married Martha ‘Tilly’ M. Smiley.
