Pate and Walton families -- connections?

As noted in the post above, my greatgreat-grandfather, Newell Walton Pate, born c. 1811 (perhaps in Morgan County), was apparently named after one of the two Newell Walton's who attended Goshen Baptist Church with three Pate families.

Does anyone know of any other connections or associations between the Pate and Walton families -- business, marriage, etc.?
